Jim's Story

Originally from Trenton, NJ, my career in public relations began while still a student at Notre Dame High School (Lawrence, NJ) as a student manager and statistician for the football, basketball, and baseball teams. That led me to a short stint as a sports correspondent at The Trentonian Daily newspaper and set a path for me toward Villanova University. At Villanova, I was a student manager for football and then baseball, a volunteer intern in the sports information office, a writer and editor for the college newspaper, and a freelance writer for the alumni newspaper, alumni magazine, and most of the sports game programs. I’m a 1984 graduate of Villanova with a Bachelor’s degree in English.

My professional career began at Villanova University in 1984, first as the Assistant Sports Information Director in the Wildcat athletic department, then as the Sports Information Director/Media Relations Director from 1990 to 1995. I was the Publicist for RHB Ventures and the Champions Tennis Tour, starring Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, and other men’s tennis legends, from 1995 to 1997, and the Director of Public Relations for US Interactive, Inc. from 1997 to 1999.

I launched Jim DeLorenzo Public Relations in 1999, and I am proud to have been called upon by several national brands and properties to gain media exposure nationwide, specifically in the Philadelphia media market, with an outstanding record of success built on my reputation and knowledge of the media in the region.
